WE DROWN IN PLASTIC
In this seemingly endless project, I express the harsh reality of pollution and the tragic loss of lives, both human and animal, in an intense and sometimes sarcastic manner. "We Drown in Plastic" is my fervent exploration of an urgent issue that has taken the world hostage: the overwhelming and heart-wrenching impact of plastic pollution. Over the past century, the philosophy of consumerism and the exponential growth of our population have ushered in an era where pollution indices have reached unimaginable levels. At the heart of this crisis lies the indiscriminate use of plastic, a material that takes thousands of years to decompose, poisoning our oceans and endangering the lives of fish and wildlife. Take a moment to look around, and you will find plastic littering our streets: caps, lids, bags, microplastics, water bottles, juice containers, and more. The question that haunts my thoughts is: How can we halt this destruction of our planet? How can I contribute to slowing down this process? My answer remains unwavering: education is the key, for adults, youths, and children alike. I have delved deep into research and centered my work on a series of photographs that depict how humans, along with all species on Earth, are drowning in plastic and facing an uncertain future. Through my work, I seek to make viewers reconsider their own experiences, sparking a powerful awakening of consciousness. Amidst this crisis, where pollution and death afflict both animals and people, education becomes a beacon of hope, guiding us toward a more sustainable and compassionate future. "We Drown in Plastic" is more than just art; it is a call to action, urging us to take responsibility and make choices that will shape a healthier world for generations to come.
