FACES OF GLADES

This project serves as a reflection of my deep connection with nature, particularly within the unique and fragile ecosystem of the Everglades National Park. The Everglades, a colossal and awe-inspiring American National Park, represents not only the largest tropical wilderness but also one of the most significant national parks in the United States. Established in 1934, this sanctuary was created with the noble intention of safeguarding a vulnerable ecosystem. Unfortunately, over the years, the Everglades has endured the consequences of human intervention dating back to 1882 when the desire to drain the wetlands initiated a series of destructive actions. Pollution, water dredging, and habitat loss have led to a drastic decline in the park's wildlife and plant species, exacerbating the critical issue of water scarcity. My primary goal in 'Faces of the Glades' is to shed light on the beauty and vulnerability of this exceptional region. Having resided in Weston, Florida, for over a decade, my city is situated on the doorstep of the Everglades, surrounded by vast expanses of water and sawgrass. This proximity has allowed me to intimately connect with the park and its ever-changing, enigmatic nature. Through my art, I hope to provoke reflection and awareness, compelling the world to recognize the irreplaceable value of the Everglades and the urgency of its preservation. 'Faces of the Glades' is a project that I've been working on for 2 years and is still in the making. It serves as a visual testament to this remarkable wilderness, encouraging viewers to engage with the compelling narrative of this fragile yet resilient ecosystem
